SUPPORTING RESEARCH

SCIENTIFIC PARTNERSHIPS

Collaborations with renowned academic research universities and world-leading researchers.

CSIRO

CSIRO is Australia’s national science agency with the core objective of making a positive impact on people’s lives through science and research. Everything they do is focused on creating measurable economic, environmental and social benefits that better our world and Australia’s place in it. Swisse’s partnership with CSIRO will provide a framework for translating research opportunities into commercial activities, investigating new opportunities and innovations right through the supply chain, by facilitating collaboration and undertaking projects of mutual interest.

The relationship forms part of Swisse’s long term Strategic Science Program for scientific validation and innovation, which also includes research projects with other local and global institutes. The strategic alliance allows the two organisations to collaborate on a number of translational research projects and to lead innovation in the complementary medicine industry, including research into novel ingredients and advanced manufacturing.

SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY

The Academic Ranking of World Universities and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings both rank Swinburne University among the top 400 universities in the world. With over 30 researchers, the Centre for Human Psychopharmacology is the largest group in the world researching the cognitive and mood effects of natural products, nutritional supplements and other nutritional interventions.

They conduct government and industry-funded trials, as well as investigator-initiated studies. Swinburne University conducted what is believed to be the first study to examine the subjective experience of taking a multivitamin during a clinical trial using Swisse Ultivite multivitamins.

Their aim is to understand fundamental aspects of neurocognitive change and to use the methodologies of applied human psychopharmacology in order to benefit behavioural and brain processes, and to translate this knowledge for the public good. The centre also aims to educate the efficacy and safety of natural medicines and illicit drugs on the human brain.

MONASH ALFRED PSYCHIATRY RESEARCH CENTRE (MAPRC):

MAPrc was founded and is directed by Professor Jayashri Kulkarni (AM), a leading researcher who is internationally recognised for her expertise in the treatment of mental illness, particularly in the psycho-neuro-endocrinology of women’s mental health. The centre is one of Australia’s largest clinical psychiatric research groups, conducting research across all the major mental illnesses with over 100 clinical trials at any one time.

Based at The Alfred Hospital, MAPrc conducts world class clinical research to make a difference to those suffering from serious mental illnesses. MAPrc is part of Monash University’s Central Clinical School and The Alfred Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry.
